Painted Houses!

Recently I've been looking at the artwork of Mary Blair. I love everything about her, especially her use of color. This week in one of my classes we painted houses  using one of her illustrations as inspiration. I showed my students how to draw a simplified house and block in color. We made stamps using fun foam stickers, cut to size and stuck on small pieces of cardboard. Next we stamped on windows, shutters, and a picket fence. The finishing touches came from oil pastels. I loved how these turned out! My students enjoyed the stamping part and I liked how the color palette took a simple drawing and added an interesting touch!
